 YASUNÍ (ITT)


The Yasuni Biosphere Reserve is located in the Amazon region in the province of Napo, located in the north of Ecuador. The dominant ecosystem is the Humid Tropical Rainforest which forms part of the upper Amazon basin. The Yasuni Biosphere Reserve is one of the areas with the greatest biodiversity per square metre on the planet. 99.73% of the biosphere reserve consists of original natural vegetation.

PetroEcuador is in favor, they need money. 

Amazon Watch is against this exploitation because that care for the environment.

Global Footprint Network is against because they are concerned about the excessive oil consumption.

Government is in favor because they are in need of money.

Indigenous people is against because they don’t want their environment/home polluted and destroyed.

My ecological footprint

  In the home area I can improve by changing my source of energy, also don’t forgetting to switch of the lights and unplugging the chargers when I’m done using them.  In the food area I have to buy things in the season so I will not get rid of them when I don’t like how it taste. Another way is buying groceries from locals market or farmers, this way I am helping them.  In the travel area, I can try going to places in bike (obviously if it’s near).  And finally in the stuff area I can improve by buying second hand and not fast fashion, because fast fashion is one of the biggest polluters in the world.
